1) I have a fresh install of eCs RC5, the UNIAUD drivers that install with RC5 locked up the desktop hard on startup. 2) I replace UNIAUD32 with uniaud32-1.9.11.zip. Everything has been working for two week without problems now.

After determining that the onboard sound chip (82810G ICH7 HDA) in this computer would NOT function using UniAud, I purchased a cheap Sabrent PCI Card. Everything now works! Driver which has been updated on 5/31/10 is available at Hobbes, "CMedia023.zip". Uniaud will work with the Sabrent PCI card, but special driver is better.

The installation did not detect the onboard CM6501. After disabling the onboard chip and inserting the SB card, the multimedia install installed SB Live! Wave Audio 0.8.2 which produced pure noise. Changed that to Uniaud 1.92 and all is fine.

When playing wav or mp3 files using Z or mplayer the sound loops intermittently so that - for example - one word gets repeated. The playing then resumes normally. Eventually the sound jams and loops endlessly. Closing the playing application fixes problem. Recording using Wavhdrec or the inbuilt eCs application works for a while and then jams. This is really bad and prevents me from recording or playing media files.
